The Bulldog is tribute to man's will power. No dog has been so deliberately "made" by selective breeding for desired traits. A mongrel never looks like a Bulldog. The only thing that does is another Bulldog. Thus come the origins of the greatest things, and the worst things, about the breed. The breed is totally dependent on man making him the greatest lover and companion of man and his children. This dependence Is also their draw back as most are born by c section, hand raised and helped or assisted during the breeding. They also need special care and attention to make sure they dont over do or get over heated. Thus a bulldog is not like other breeds .in temperament. They are almost like little people. Good breeders have planned end encouraged good traits and subordinated bad ones. There Is an official standard or blueprint the dog is bred to, that the breeder should use as a guideline In their breeding program. This should include breeding for health and temperament. Mature dogs weigh about 50 to 60 lbs. Females 40 to 50 lb. "Never own a bulldog if: you like to present a dignified appearance; if you like windows without muzzle prints, or floors without drool prints; intact furniture, particularly any furniture not made of German steel; a garden as you planted it; cars with no hair on the upholstery (see muzzle prints on windows), or clothing clean from the thighs down. If snoring, snorting, sneezing, belching or other indelicate noises in your home might be loud enough to wake your neighbors, if you think lap dogs should weigh no more than 13 pounds, if you don't like your face washed with a size 18 tongue and you are not willing to know your vet on a first-name basis, never own a bulldog. If you think you are buying a vigilant watchdog, get a Lhasa Apso; if you think you are buying an outdoor dog, get a wrought-iron statue. If you want something that bites, get a parrot. " quote from pat chapin MORE GENERAL BULLDOG INFORMATION

SHOW OR PETAs you know, one can only pick out a show potential puppy with a good pedigree when the puppy is young, and only hope he or she lives up to their potential. The older the dog the more you know how it will turn out, but the price may go up or down as the pup gets older, depending on how good or bad he or she is for show etc..
